Each skin is unique and has specific needs. A dry skin should not receive the same care as an oily or acne-prone skin. So to be sure of what we put on our face, why not make our own masks? This is the principle defended by the “slow cosmetics”, which wishes to reconnect with the authenticity of noble and natural products. Discover our eight homemade masks, for each skin type.

1- FOR DULL SKIN TONES

When our skin is dull, we want to give it a little tan to make us look good again. By combining fruit acids and vitamins, we obtain a very effective mask that illuminates the complexion. Its effect will be light and progressive.

What you need
-A teaspoon of Greek yogurt
-A teaspoon of whole cane sugar
-½ squeezed orange
-A teaspoon of carrot macerate
-A pinch of urea powder

Why?
Greek yogurt contains lactic acid, which exfoliates the skin. Whole cane sugar contains glycolic acid, which is released when it melts. Orange is also very good for the health of the skin, as it contains AHA acid, which is good for the skin. Carrot macerate, obviously colors the skin thanks to the beta-carotene it contains. Finally, Urea powder has important hydrating and acidifying properties.

How to proceed?
Mix everything in a bowl. The result should be liquid but creamy. We plunge cotton discs in the preparation, and we apply them to the face by avoiding the eyes. We let pose the whole between 15 and 20 minutes.

2- FOR SENSITIVE SKINS

Sensitive skins are, as their name indicates, very reactive. It is necessary to redouble attention as for the care which one lavishes on them. They need to be soothed and rebalanced. The use of natural ingredients is therefore highly recommended.

What you need
-15 ml of white clay
-5 ml of aromatic hydrolate of rose
-A quarter of a teaspoon of liquid honey
-1.2 ml of vegetable oil of our choice

Why use it?
For sensitive skin of all types, we favor white clay, also called kaolin, because it is the softest of clays. It gently cleanses and purifies. It also regulates the skin functions of sensitive and mature skin. White clay is therefore an essential multi-purpose beauty ally.
The aromatic hydrolat of rose has for role to give again with the skin its initial glare. Liquid honey helps regenerate the cells. Finally, the vegetable oil plays the role of natural moisturizer.

How to proceed?
Mix the whole in a bowl on a clean skin, gummed if possible. One leaves to pose 5 to 10 minutes, then one rinses.

3- FOR DRY SKINS

Some skins have a tendency to become dry, tight and red. Avocado and banana are two good allies in the fight against dry skin, as they help the protective barrier of the epidermis to rebuild itself.

What you need
-1/2 avocado
-1 teaspoon of olive oil

Why?
The flesh of the avocado is rich in nutrients and promotes skin regeneration. It moisturizes the skin, and protects it from drying out. It also has important healing properties.
Olive oil is a natural moisturizer that makes the skin more supple and fights against aging.

How do we proceed?
We crush and mix everything until we obtain a perfectly smooth mixture. Leave on for 10 minutes.

4- FOR OILY SKINS

Oily skin needs a mask that absorbs impurities, softens the skin and moisturizes it. This will help fight against sebum and spots.

What you need
-1/2 bowl of cooked and cooled oat bran
-1 egg
-1 tablespoon of lemon juice

Why.
The acidity of lemon juice absorbs excess oil and dead skin. The oat bran soothes the skin and reduces redness. Finally, the egg contains vitamins and nutrients which fight effectively against the ageing of the skin.

How to proceed?
We mix to obtain a compact and soft paste, and we rinse after 15 minutes, with cold water to close the pores well.

5- FOR TIRED SKINS

Grey complexion, dark circles around the eyes, dilated pores: it’s hard to look pretty when your skin is tired. This can be due to stress, smoking, an unbalanced diet and many other reasons. We then need a mask that makes us look good again.

What you need
-1 lemon
-2 tablespoons of sugar
-1 tablespoon of olive oil

Why?
These are ingredients that will refresh our skin and soothe it. The combination of sugar and lemon will naturally exfoliate dead skin cells. Olive oil deeply moisturizes the skin, and regenerates the cells, to give back to our complexion its initial brightness.

How to proceed ?
We mix the ingredients in a bowl until we obtain a paste, which we let pose 10 minutes.

6- FOR MATURE SKIN

With time, our skin dries out, wrinkles become more pronounced and the skin is less firm. Mature skin needs a mask with a tightening effect that respects its sensitive skin and restores its initial radiance.

What you need
-1/2 lemon
-1 egg white
-2 teaspoons of argan oil or olive oil

Why?
Lemon tightens pores and reduces sebum secretion, making skin clearer and more beautiful. The egg white is a natural tensor, but also an effective facial cleanser. Finally, argan oil (or olive oil) ensures a good hydration of the skin, which should not be neglected to slow down skin aging.

How to proceed?
We beat the egg white until it is foamy. Then we add the rest of the ingredients. We apply the whole on the face, and we let act 20 minutes.

7- FOR SKIN PRONE TO BLEMISHES

Blemish-prone skin needs to be gently buffed and purified. With proper care and attention, skin problems will diminish over time.

What you need
-1 squash
-1 tablespoon of honey
-2 drops of tea tree oil

Why do you need it?
Squash stimulates collagen production and fights the appearance of blemishes, as does tea tree oil, which also moisturizes. Finally, honey helps with cell regeneration and restores the skin’s radiance.

How to proceed?
We start by making a puree with the butternut squash. We add then the tablespoon of honey, and we mix. We finish by adding the two drops of tea tree oil. Once the mixture is homogeneous, we apply it on the skin and we let pose 15 minutes.
