How do you know when you need a moisturizing hair treatment?
Tattoo this on your hair : moisturizing your hair is something you need to do constantly. It’s like drinking water: never stop! What you should keep in mind when looking for treatments to moisturize your hair is the type of hair you have: dry or very dry hair is not the same as oily hair; nor is straight hair the same as curly hair.
In any case, there are some “symptoms” that will indicate that your hair needs extra moisture. We help you identify them:
- Split or split ends
- Dull, lackluster hair
- Rough and inelastic texture
- Unusual dryness
- Hair more prone to tangling
- Fragile hair or hair prone to falling out
5 tips and tricks to moisturize dry and damaged hair
- Get the best specific products on the market to moisturize your hair.
Conditioners, serums, shampoos, foams, styling creams… there are countless solutions (and components, such as keratin, collagen, vitamins…) that work perfectly as a moisturizing treatment for hair. You can ask your hairdresser if the one you have in mind is suitable for your hair type and its condition.
- Apply a moisturizing mask at least once a week.
Set aside one day a week to pamper your hair and give it its weekly dose of moisture. How about a Friday afternoon to stay at home and prepare a very moisturizing and regenerating mask for your hair? Great!
- Wash your hair when you really need it
Sometimes we wash it by inertia (because we get in the shower to wash our body and take advantage of it), not because it is really dirty. A good option to extend the time between washes and keep your hair looking perfect is to use dry shampoo.
- If you can, avoid heat tools like blow dryers and flat irons.
Abusing both blow dryers and flat irons (or using them incorrectly) can be very damaging to your hair. If you do, apply a heat protectant beforehand to protect it from high temperatures. Learn how to do this correctly in our posts on how to blow dry your hair and how to flat iron your hair correctly.
- Put your mane in zen mode
Although it may sound strange to you, an overly stressful lifestyle and/or unhealthy habits (smoking, drinking alcohol, unbalanced diet…) also affect the health and appearance of our hair. Relax, put bad habits aside and rest for a minimum of 8 hours to promote cell regeneration.
