HOMEMADE HAIR MASK: THE IMPORTANCE OF GOING NATURAL

NB: essential oils are not recommended for children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, the elderly or people suffering from chronic pathologies. Before using essential oils, do not hesitate to ask a doctor’s advice.
HOMEMADE HAIR MASK: APPLICATION TIME
To take full advantage of the benefits of your homemade hair treatment, it is essential to respect the application time. Indeed, the action of the mask will be all the more beneficial if it is left on for the recommended time (generally thirty minutes or one hour).
1- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH EGG
For dry, damaged, tired hair – shine effect, repairing, strengthening, nourishing.
Beat an egg yolk with a tablespoon of vegetable oil (olive, avocado, castor, argan, jojoba…).
Apply immediately to hair, strand by strand, leave on for 30 minutes before shampooing gently.
On long hair, double the quantities.
You can also make a mask with a whole raw beaten egg, but you have to rinse well with cold water before shampooing (otherwise the white will coagulate).
You can add a spoonful of honey and / or vegetable oil.
2- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH HONEY
For dull, rough, brittle hair – shine effect, illuminates blonde highlights on light hair, moisturizing.
Add two tablespoons of honey, one teaspoon of lemon juice, one to two tablespoons of warm water if necessary to thin the mixture and facilitate application.
Apply to hair strand by strand, leave on for 30 minutes and rinse thoroughly.
NB: with a good thorough rinsing, there is no need to shampoo with this non-greasy mask, so it can be used as a conditioner.
3- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH ALOE VERA
To moisturize, soothe the scalp.
Mix two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and two tablespoons of coconut milk (or one tablespoon of coconut milk powder + two tablespoons of water).
Apply the mixture to the hair strand by strand, leave on for 30 minutes before shampooing gently.
4- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH BANANA
To soften and grow hair.
Mix a banana well crushed (avoid lumps as much as possible) and a tablespoon of vegetable oil (olive, avocado, castor, argan, jojoba …).
Apply the mixture to the hair strand by strand. Cover with a towel or charlotte to keep the heat in, and leave on for 30 minutes. Then remove with a shampoo.
5- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH AVOCADO
For dry and damaged hair – nourishing, shiny effect.
Mix half an avocado, well mashed, with one to two tablespoons of avocado oil.
Apply the mixture to the hair strand by strand. Cover with a towel or a charlotte to keep the heat in, and leave on for 1 hour. Then eliminate with a shampoo.
6- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH COCONUT OIL
An ideal mask for all hair types – shiny, strengthening, hair growth boosting, repairing…
Take two tablespoons of coconut oil (optional: add three drops of ylang-ylang essential oil).
Melt the coconut oil by heating it slightly in a bowl in a hot water bath.
Apply to hair strand by strand, distributing the oil evenly, but not too much. Cover with a towel or a charlotte to keep the heat in, and leave on for 1 hour. Then remove with a shampoo.
7- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK WITH YOGURT
Moisturizing effect, shine, fights against dandruff, soothes scalp irritations.
Mix one plain yogurt and one tablespoon of honey.
Option 1: on dry hair, you can add a tablespoon of vegetable oil (olive, avocado, castor, argan, jojoba …).
ThOption 2: on oily hair, you can add a tablespoon of aloe vera gel.
Option 3: if you have dandruff, you can add three drops of essential oil of patchouli or geranium or tea tree or laurel or lavender aspic.
Apply the mixture immediately to the hair strand by strand, leave for 30 minutes before shampooing gently.
8- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK FOR HAIR GROWTH
Mix one tablespoon of castor oil, half a tablespoon of vegetable mustard oil (alternatively: one teaspoon of coconut oil + one teaspoon of mustard), three drops of essential oil of Bay Saint Thomas or Grapefruit or Rosemary with cineole.
Apply to the scalp and massage for a few moments to stimulate microcirculation. You can extend the treatment by also applying to the lengths (nourishing, shining, strengthening). Cover with a towel or a charlotte to keep the heat, and leave it on for 1 hour. Then eliminate with a shampoo.
9- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK FOR SHINE
Effects: shiny, strengthening, sheathing, volumizing (and detangling if using marshmallow powder).
Take two tablespoons of neutral henna (no colouring) or marshmallow powder.
Add warm water until a soft paste is formed.
Add one tablespoon of coconut milk and one teaspoon of lemon juice.
Optional: three drops of ylang-ylang or lemongrass essential oil.
Apply to hair strand by strand. Wrap with plastic film and leave on for 1 hour. Then remove with a shampoo.
Finish with a shine rinse: 300 ml of water + two tablespoons of coconut vinegar, pomegranate vinegar or cider vinegar.
10 – ANTI-DANDRUFF HOME-MADE HAIR MASK
Purifying, cleansing, calming, anti-itching, anti-dandruff, scalp repairing effects.
Mix three tablespoons of green clay or rhassoul with ten drops of essential oil of patchouli or geranium or tea tree or laurel or lavender.
Add warm water until a fairly fluid paste is formed.
Apply a thick layer to the scalp, massaging gently.
Leave on for 30 minutes then rinse. This treatment replaces a shampoo.
To clean the lengths, massage the clay into the lengths when rinsing. Finish with a final shine rinse (300 ml of water + 2 tablespoons of cider vinegar or coconut or pomegranate vinegar).
Option: you can add a tablespoon of nettle powder, tulsi or nagarmotha.
11- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK FOR CURLY HAIR
For curly or frizzy hair, or dry, damaged hair: fortifying, repairing, nourishing, beautifying, shining.
Mix three tablespoons of coconut milk and one tablespoon of castor oil.
The quantities can be doubled for long hair.
Option 1: three drops of ylang-ylang essential oil.
Option 2: You can add a beaten egg yolk.
Apply to the entire head of hair, strand by strand. Leave on for 1 hour and then remove with a mild shampoo.
12- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK FOR DRY HAIR
Mix two tablespoons of avocado oil and one tablespoon of olive oil.
Option for very dry or frizzy hair: add a teaspoon of shea butter to be melted with the vegetable oils.
Apply to hair strand by strand, distributing the oil evenly, but not too much. Cover with a towel or hairnet to keep the heat in and leave on for 1 hour.
Then remove with a shampoo.
13- HOMEMADE HAIR MASK FOR OILY HAIR
Mix three tablespoons of green clay or rhassoul and ten drops of rosemary verbenone or cineole essential oil or grapefruit or lemon.
Add warm water until a fairly fluid paste is formed.
Apply a thick layer to the scalp, massaging gently, and spread over the lengths (unless they are dry – mixed hair for example).
Leave on for 30 minutes then rinse. This treatment replaces a shampoo.
To clean the lengths, massage the clay into the lengths when rinsing. Finish with a final shine rinse (300 ml of water + two tablespoons of cider vinegar or coconut or pomegranate vinegar).
Option: you can add a tablespoon of horsetail or nettle powder or a teaspoon of burdock extract.
14- MOISTURISING HOME-MADE HAIR MASK
Moisturising, softening, shining, rebalancing effects for oily scalps.
Mix two tablespoons of plain yoghurt with two tablespoons of aloe vera gel and a teaspoon of honey.
Leave on for 30 minutes and remove with a mild shampoo.
15- HOMEMADE REPAIRING HAIR MASK
Repairing, strengthening, nourishing, shining effects.
Mix two beaten egg yolks, one tablespoon of melted coconut oil and one teaspoon of honey.
Immediately apply the mixture to the hair strand by strand, wrap the hair in cling film and leave on for 1 hour before shampooing gently.
